Who We Are
Margaret Vollmer, Manager
of NYPL Express, has been with The New
York Public Library for over ten years.
Peggy received her Master of Library and
Information Science degree from Rutgers
University. Her undergraduate degree is
in American Studies. Prior to becoming
a librarian, Peggy spent eight years working
in a public library in New Jersey and
nine years in a major insurance company
in Pennsylvania, seven of which were in
a management position. Her professional
research experience encompasses business,
science, government documents, and the
humanities.
Richard Foster has worked as a librarian since
1986, having completed his Master of Science in Library Science
degree at the University of North Carolina—Chapel Hill. Prior to
joining NYPL Express, his reference experience included government
documents, law, and business at Chicago Public Library (1986-1989)
and in The Research Libraries of NYPL (1989-2000). Having an undergraduate
degree in English and additional coursework in art history, Richard
has broadened his professional experience in recent years to include
the humanities. His work has included projects in manuscripts collections
as well as the Library’s significant holdings in history, genealogy,
and art. Richard coordinates the research and document delivery
functions for NYPL Express.
Maurice Klapwald has been a librarian with The New York Public Library for eight years. He received his Master of Library and Information Science degree from Long Island University, Palmer School of Library and Information Science. His undergraduate degree is in Business Administration. Prior to becoming a librarian, his experience included three years in a major corporate library working in document delivery, and eight years as a human resources professional in the non-profit health industry sector. His research interests include engineering, science, and sports.
Kelly Delevan received her Master of Science in Information Studies from the University of Texas at Austin’s School of Information and began her service at The New York Public Library in 2006. She has an undergraduate degree in History and a certificate in Filmmaking from the Czech National Film School in Prague. Prior to joining NYPL, Kelly was a researcher at the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas, where she assisted authors from around the world with archival research. Before becoming a librarian, Kelly worked as a film and video editor in Washington DC and New York. Her research interests include emerging technologies and the humanities.
In addition to our researchers, there are six staff members to process document orders, retrieve materials, photocopy, scan, and assist with administrative duties.
